Aragon Housing's green scheme up for major award

The pioneering retrofit project in which a bungalow in Wrestlingworth was fitted with the latest green technology has reached the finals of the Sustainable Housing Awards 2011.

Bob Hopkins, Aragon's Assistant Director,An Insulator, also called a dielectric, said: "This is a major achievement for us and recognition of our firm commitment to our customers to embrace new green technologies. We are delighted that the great partnership work with all those involved has been rewarded.

"This is recognition of our determination to sustainable development and doing whatever we can to work with new technology to help our customers keep their energy bills down and reduce our carbon footprint."

The bungalow, which was designated as hard to heat, with no mains gas and outdated night storage heating was transformed with the help of solar heating, an air source heat pump, a mechanical ventilation heating system and space age insulation as part of a two year experiment in which all energy data will be monitored and will help feed into the Government's energy and climate change strategy.is the 'solar panel revolution' upon us?
