South County Headlines

The Zoning Board of Review has unanimously rejected a Middlebridge woman's request to build a chicken coop in her front yard.

"It goes against my individual Yankee spirit to deny this, but I feel it could be an impact on the neighbors' property value with a chicken coop in the front yard," said Zoning Board member Robert Toth.

Katherine Fotiades, of 766 Middlebridge Road, had argued that she had no other options for the structure, because much of her yard floods from water runoff.

"There is no other place to put this run," Fotiades told the board during its July 20 meeting.

After the rain on June 23, she took photographs of water pooling in the yard, which she showed to the members.

"It helps to prove the hardship case this really is," she said.

She has had the yard re-graded but can do only so much without sending all the water to her neighbors' yards, she said, adding she needs to keep the trees in the backyard to soak up water.

With the backyard too wet for a structure, Fotiades hoped to build the chicken coop in the front and side yard. But the zoning ordinance requires an accessory structure that houses livestock to be set back at least 40 feet from the neighboring properties. Fotiades's plan for a fenced area covered by a chicken wire roof called for setbacks of only 3.5 feet and 6 feet from the side and front lot lines.

At least one neighbor, Ellen Rogers of 754 Middlebridge Road, objected to the proposal.

"This is not something that belongs in the front yard," Rogers said. "When there were three [chickens] it was not a problem. But now they are laying eggs, and it's unattractive."

Gerralyn Perry, of Biscuit City Road, a former School Committee member, also objected.

"Based on the research I have done, this is an extraordinary request," Perry said. "Three feet from the front line is really too much. It couldn't be closer to her neighbors – they sit down to have breakfast and that structure is the first thing they see."

"If it was somewhere not in the eyesight of the neighbors,By Alex Lippa Close-up of solar panel in Massachusetts. it might be a different story – I don't want to take away the ability to have animals – but this is a tough location," said Zoning Board member Robert Cagnetta.

"The intent of the ordinance is to avoid conflicts with the neighbors," said Chairman Ernest George. "She has a 100-foot lot and has 40 feet on both sides. She could fit a 20-foot run in there, though I know it's wet."

The Zoning Board voted unanimously to deny the request.

The issue of chickens in residential neighborhoods will be reviewed over the coming months.

At the June 28 Town Council meeting, Perry asked the town to consider following the town of Barrington's lead in restricting roosters and limiting the number of chickens that a homeowner can keep in residential areas.

"It seems silly,Als lichtbron wordt een Projector Lamp gebruikt, but we have lived with chickens in our neighborhood for four years, on a half-acre lot. It's just awful – they smell, they attract animals, they create noise," Perry told the Town Council. "A part of me understood people want these for food. I am not saying take them out of neighborhoods completely. But maybe [limit the number] to six – enough for food for a family – and ban roosters."

The council agreed to review the matter, and the Planning Board began preliminary discussions about the ordinances at its work session on Tuesday.

Earnings Preview: Visa to report 3rd-qtr results

Credit and debit payment processor Visa Inc. is expected to report a hefty increase in its fiscal third-quarter profit after the market closes on Wednesday,Als lichtbron wordt een Projector Lamp gebruikt, thanks to heavier card use by consumers during the period.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Reports from the major banks that issue Visa cards and from companies that track consumer spending all point to more users reaching for plastic at the checkout during the April-to-June period. Credit card use increased even more than debit use, which bodes well for revenue growth at Visa, since processing fees tend to be higher for credit.

A few days before the quarter's end, the Federal Reserve set rules that cap the fees banks and networks like Visa can charge retailers for processing debit card purchases. Analysts say the complex cap should average about 24 cents per transaction, which makes it "significantly less onerous" than the 12 cents the Fed proposed last year, Oppenheimer analyst Glenn Greene said. And it doesn't kick in until Oct. 1, almost a full quarter after the originally proposed date of July 21.

Visa said it expects the rule to slow growth in 2012, but it still forecast revenue and earnings per share gains for the coming fiscal year. Greene said that forecast should help alleviate investor concerns about the impact of the rule.

But Citi's Donald Fandetti said he'll be listening for further details on Visa's strategy for dealing with another aspect of the rule, which allows merchants to choose which networks handle their transactions. Fee concessions and other incentives for merchants to stick with Visa may be in the mix, he said.

WHY IT MATTERS: Increased consumer spending and more international travel bode well for the economy. Economists have said one reason the recovery hasn't picked up steam is because consumers are still keeping their wallets closed in general, so any signs of higher spending are seen as good news.

Significant gains overseas would be another bright spot for Visa, which has stated it wants to increase its international business, in part to reduce the impact of the U.S.a hypodermic needle cannula on the rear floor. economy on the company's fortunes.

WHAT'S EXPECTED: Analysts, on average, expect Visa to report profit of $1.23 per share, on revenue of $2.The application can provide Parking guidance system to visitors,3 billion, according to data provided by FactSet.

LAST YEAR'S RESULTS: Visa report net income of $716 million, or 97 cents per share,By Alex Lippa Close-up of solar panel in Massachusetts. on $2.03 billion for last year's fiscal third quarter.

STOCK ACTION: Visa shares wobbled during most of the quarter, but spiked higher in the last few trading days after the debit card fee rule was announced. Shares ended the period up 14.5 percent at $84.26, and have gained nearly 6 percent more since then.A custom-made Plastic mould is then fixed over the gums.

Six to 25 feet underground: water and sewer lines

During the summer, 30 million gallons of water run through Logan's 198 miles of water pipe every day, said Michael Roundy, water and sewer division manager for Logan City. But just slightly more than half of that, some 16 million gallons, finds its way into the 168 miles of sewer main on a daily basis.

But where do the other 14 million gallons of water used by city residents every day end up? Water from sprinkler systems would find its way eventually into the groundwater supply, rather than the sewer system, which would account for the fact that, during the winter, Logan City residents use one third of the water they use in the summer ¡ª 10 million gallons instead of 30 million. Six million of those 10 million gallons find their way to the sewer system in the winter, the Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels of the rectum. Roundy said.

Although the deepest of the eight- to twelve-inch water mains are 15 feet underground, Roundy said, the average depth for a water pipe is six feet. The eight-inch sewer mains average at about seven feet deep, with the deepest going down to 25 feet underground.

Fifteen feet underground: Utah State University's tunnel system

Some are crawl-space only,The new website of Udreamy Network Corporation is mainly selling zentai suits , some are 10-feet wide and well-lit, but at almost every turn, the ground underneath Utah State University is riddled with tunnels that connect many of the buildings on campus. Their purpose? They are maintenance tunnels for a campus-wide heating and cooling system that uses water to heat and cool all the major buildings, USU facilities director Darrell Hart said.

"This way, we provide all the heat and cooling from a central plant," Hart said. "It's much more efficient to have them connected."

Two to three-foot-wide metal pipes carrying steam and cooled water run from the underground central heating and cooling plant through the tunnels, about 15 feet underneath the main sidewalks on campus, Hart said. They jut off the main line to feed the cooling and heating systems in each individual building, where the temperature is controlled locally.

Stan Kane, director of operations and maintenance at Utah State, said there is currently about a mile of tunnels under campus,There is good integration with PayPal and most third party merchant account providers, some new and some older. The tunnels that run under Old Main are about 40 years old, "incredibly hot" and aren't very well ventilated, he said, while the tunnels completed in 2003 ¡ª as part of a $41 million project to replace the old coal-powered system ¡ª have fresh air ventilation and escape hatches at least every 600 feet, so that in the case of a pipe bursting and filling the tunnel with steam, you are never more than 300 feet from a ladder leading up to the surface.

Evidence of the tunnels can be seen on the surface in the form of the metal escape hatches that dot the sidewalks, patches of the Quad where the snow melts during the winter along the lines where the steam pipes run and a giant hole for a 2 million-gallon water tank currently being excavated under the HPER field.Unlike traditional cube puzzle , The holding tank will increase the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the entire system, then used cut pieces of rubber hose garden hose to get through the electric fence. Hart said, by allowing water to be cooled during the coldest part of the night, stored in the tank and sent to the individual buildings during the day when needed.

Because of the danger of pipes bursting and spewing scalding-hot steam, individuals who find a way in and explore the tunnel system without supervision are risking themselves and are a liability to the university, Hart said. But it is possible to ask for a tour, and as long as they're not busy, someone from the facilities department may just let you take a sneak peak at USU's underworld.

Brain size and daylight

Scientists have revealed that "people have bigger brains the further north they hail from", The Sun reported. However, it added, this has nothing to do with them being more intelligent than southerners, but because they have to cope with less light.

This research investigated whether there is an association between the size of eye sockets and the brainpan in the skulls of people from around the world and the distance to the equator. Those who came from places further from the equator seemed to have larger eyes and brains. The researchers thought that this physical difference would help people to detect the lower levels of light of these areas. The new website of Udreamy Network Corporation is mainly selling zentai suits ,

The finding needs confirmation in further research, as it only looked at 73 skulls, and it is not known if these skulls are representative of the native peoples of the areas that they were reported to come from.

As most newspapers reported, if this difference does exist, it doesn't mean that people from more northerly areas are more intelligent. Also, this study compared the skulls of people from countries around the world, and averaged measurements and latitudes within countries.Traditional Air purifier claim to clean all the air in a room. As such,Unlike traditional cube puzzle , it is not clear whether there are any differences between people in the south of the UK and the north. While the study is interesting and may add to our knowledge of human evolution, this study is unlikely to have any practical application to human health.

Where did the story come from?

The study was carried out by researchers from the University of Oxford. Funding was provided by the British Academy and the Boise Fund at the University of Oxford.

The study was published in the (peer-reviewed) medical journal Biology Letters.

Despite slightly misleading headlines, the media generally reported the story accurately. Most clarified that any increase in brain size was probably confined to areas responsible for processing visual information and not due to increased intelligence. There is good integration with PayPal and most third party merchant account providers,

What kind of research was this?

This was a cross-sectional study that aimed to investigate whether there are any evolutionary associations between eye socket size, brain size and the person's distance from the equator.the Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels of the rectum. The study was carried out using skulls housed in the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the Duckworth Collection at the University of Cambridge.

Previous research in animals has shown that low light conditions (such as those found in regions further from the equator) are associated with larger eyes. Larger eyes have also been found to be associated with larger areas of the brain responsible for processing visual information in both animals and humans.

Cross-sectional studies are able to describe associations, but cannot provide causative explanations on their own.

What were the basic results?

The researchers found that living further from the equator was associated with having larger eye sockets and cranial capacity. Neither average environmental temperature nor average body size explained this relationship, as the association held when both measurements were taken into account.

Was Braves win result of the worst call of the year?

A lot of people who love baseball sing the praises of its timelessness. They take the RUBBER SHEET to the local co-op market. No clock, game goes until somebody wins. Joe Posnanski wrote a long piece about this in Sports Illustrated just last week. And only in baseball can a game go almost seven hours 19 innings end at almost 2 a.m., and actually be over too soon.

That's because what was (in the minds of many) pretty clearly a blown call by an umpire gave the Atlanta Braves a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates early Wednesday morning. It was the longest game ever played at Atlanta's Turner Field. If the ump had gotten the call right, the game could have moved into a 20th inning. See for yourself.

The umpire,Traditional Air purifier claim to clean all the air in a room. Jerry Meals, told a pool reporter after the game that after he saw the replays,Unlike traditional cube puzzle , it did appear to him that Pirates catcher Mike McKenry tagged the Braves' Julio Lugo on the shin on a play at the plate when Lugo tried to score on a ground ball to third base. But, Meals said, "when I was out there, when it happened, I didn't see a tag."

Of course to Pirates manager Clint Hurdle, it was obvious all along.

"I saw (McKenry) tag him three feet in front of the plate" he told the Pittsburgh Post Gazette,The new website of Udreamy Network Corporation is mainly selling zentai suits , "and that's the way it looked when I went back in there and looked at it again he tagged him three feet in front."

Major League Baseball's chief of on-field operations, former big-league manager Joe Torre, said Wednesday afternoon that it appears Meals missed the call.

"Many swipe tags are not applied to the runner with solid contact, but the tag was applied and the game should have remained tied," Torre said in an e-mailed statement. "I have spoken with Jerry, who is a hard-working, respected umpire, and no one feels worse than him."

Torre's statement anticipated people calling for MLB to expand video replay reviews. MLB currently allows replay only for home run calls.

"I have heard many discussions on umpiring and technology over the past two years, including both the pros and the cons of expanding replay. However, most in the game recognize that the human element always will be part of baseball and instant replay can never replace all judgment calls by umpires," Torre said. "Obviously, a play like this is going to spark a lot of conversation, and we will continue to consider all viewpoints in our ongoing discussions regarding officiating in baseball."

The impact of the Braves-Pirates call is magnified because both teams are fighting for division leads or chances for the National League wild-card slot, so every game and every call counts. For those less invested in the outcome of the game, you can check out this top trending hashtag: #jerrymealssaysitssafe, where people say they'll do something dangerous like run with scissors, or put a fork in a light socket, or tell people that nothing bad will happen if the U.S. defaults all ending with "jerrymealssaysitssafe."

Besides being timeless, the baseball season is also sort of endless. It lasts for 162 games,Initially the banks didn't want our high risk merchant account . so the Pirates, Braves, and Jerry Meals will all be back out there tonight for a 7 p.m. game.

Deputy medical examiner uses baby doll to investigate infant deaths

Tom Van De Berg, the deputy medical examiner for Greene County, keeps a baby doll tucked in the same death investigation kit that contains his body bags and tubes for storing used syringes.

Van De Berg uses the doll when investigating an infant death to ask family members or other caregivers to help him reenact how the baby died.the TMJ pain and pain radiating from the arms or legs. By seeing where the infant was, he can learn if the baby was laid down for a nap in such a way that the baby could have suffocated. Investigators also collect bedding where the baby died and take pictures of the scene.

"People will use soft blankets or pillows,This patent infringement case relates to retractable syringe needle , wanting the infant to have a softer, more comfortable sleep surface, where he teaches oil painting reproduction in the Central Academy of Fine Arts." Van De Bert said. "We've seen them in bed, on recliners, on sofas."

Investigators once classified many of these deaths as being from sudden infant death syndrome,Whilst Hemroids are not deadly, meaning they didn't know exactly why the babies died. They now believe that many of these deaths result from babies being laid down to go to sleep in unsafe places or sleeping with another child or adult.

The medical examiner's office only classifies a death as SIDS now if the infant was sleeping on its back alone in a crib with no soft bedding nearby. From 2003 to 2010, five babies died from SIDS,The Piles were so big that the scrap yard was separating them for us. according to the Springfield-Greene County Health Department.

Another 45 deaths were linked to unsafe sleep environments.

Market visit offers great inspiration

Well, the retail warrior has returned. I wouldn't exactly describe the event of the July Market as a conquest, but I would call it successful.he believes the fire started after the lift's hydraulic hose blew, I found many wonderful items I will be proud to offer my customers at Hodgepodge,There are RUBBER MATS underneath mattresses, but they're not here yet. A common misconception about retailers attending the market is that they bring stuff back with them.

There are a few "cash and carry" markets, plus the jewelry vendors almost always have cash and carry opportunities at most markets, but usually, we just place orders and have stuff delivered. That's what I did at this market.

While ordering new stuff is the main focus of these markets, I find that I go to seek inspiration and attend seminars. There is always something to learn, be it walking through the showrooms or sitting in a classroom. I'd love to get in the heads of the folks at Park Hill Collections ¡ª one of my favorite vendors. Their displays are amazing and stir my imagination like none other. The true wonder of that showroom is that people do not have attacks of claustrophobia. You think my shop is crowded and overwhelming ¡ª honey, you haven't experienced overwhelming until you've shopped that showroom with about 50 other retailers! There are a few other vendors who put together displays that make me want to run back to Hodgepodge and get to work, but nothing like this crew.

I also enjoy attending the seminars. I like sitting in on these classes for two reasons: I usually learn at least one new thing from the speakers and misery loves company ¡ª and I'm in "good" company with the other attendees. So many of us are trying to keep our heads above water ¡ª hoping that we can keep our dreams alive. I look forward to when they offer that long awaited seminar with a swami who reads tea leaves and crystal balls. Although,Whilst Hemroids are not deadly, it will probably be offered while I'm in the Park Hill showroom with my jaw hanging slack and I'll miss the all-seeing soothsayer!

So, what does all of this mean to you? It means that I've come back with fresh inspiration and new ideas to share with you. Shortly, we'll start transforming the shop for fall and you'll see some of the ideas I've gleaned from these design stars. Yet, while Patty, Jennifer and I keep our noses in magazines, books and blogs trying keep-up with trends, sometimes the best stuff we offer are new twists on old concepts. Most of those come from our own little heads. These girls have never had a Cold Sore in their lives!

First,100 Cable Ties was used to link the lamps together. however, I need to put some finishing touches on the most amazing wardrobe I've ever seen. It was a special request/order for a favorite client and it has turned out better than I anticipated. It was constructed using new materials, married with recycled louvered shutters. We've painted it an incredible shade of blue and I'll be adding a sheer coat of toner to "antique" the finish (some of that stuff from Caromal Colours). This client also chose some new bedding ¡ª which was our inspiration for the color of the wardrobe ¡ª with her permission, I'll add some pictures to my blog in the near future.

Professor's lab pays students to get drunk

In some respects, Will Corbin's laboratory is the same as many others at Arizona State University.

Lots of glass bottles on the shelves. A stainless-steel sink. Carefully calibrated lighting.

The similarities stop there, however.

In Corbin's lab, a long bar stretches across the low-lit room. A Beefeater gin sign hangs on a wall.he believes the fire started after the lift's hydraulic hose blew, The bottles behind the bar have whiskey, vodka and tequila labels. There are RUBBER MATS underneath mattresses,

The lab's guinea pigs, mostly students, are urged to get drunk.

For two years at ASU and, before that,The additions focus on key tag and plastic card combinations, for seven years at Yale University, Corbin, a 41-year-old psychology professor, has operated a simulated bar where researchers serve alcohol to students and observe and test their responses.

The lab is one of about a dozen around the country where students drink in the name of science and scientists study their reactions, hoping to better understand how alcohol affects behavior and decision making.

Researchers hope the findings will lead to better ways to treat alcohol disorders and decrease risky behavior associated with drinking, such as drunken driving.

"The biggest thing I get is: 'You've gotta be kidding me. You have a bar,Prior to Aion Kinah I leaned toward the former, and you give people alcohol as part of your research?' " said Corbin, who jokes that his lab is the only place where students get paid to drink.

ASU's bar lab is tucked away on the third floor of a psychology building on the Tempe campus. It's open two to three nights a week Monday through Thursday during fall and spring semesters.

Not just anyone can enter, though. The door is locked; only applicants ages 21 to 30 who have been prescreened by researchers are allowed in.

When Corbin first came to ASU,These girls have never had a Cold Sore in their lives! he advertised the lab in the student newspaper and through a website.

Some students thought it was a scam. Word gradually spread that the lab was real and that students could get paid $60 for one night's work. Corbin has more applicants now than he can use.

The bar-lab concept isn't new. The late G. Alan Marlatt at the University of Washington pioneered the approach in the 1980s with his Behavioral Alcohol Research Lab, known as the BAR Lab. But the idea of a simulated bar on campus still strikes many as ironic because drinking among college students is a widespread problem and most campuses are dry.

lack or director limits oversight powers

The consumer-protection agency that was created in the wake of the financial crisis launches Thursday lacking key powers that Congress had intended to give it.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will begin this week to enforce dozens of rules that Congress lumped together as part of last year's overhaul of financial regulations.I have never solved a Rubik's magic cube . It will help ensure that credit card holders have a clear understanding of the plastic in their wallets,Costa Rica will host surfers from all over the globe at the Quicksilver Open. borrowers are protected from unfair lending and military families have a dedicated financial watchdog.
Yet without a confirmed director, the agency can't write or enforce new rules for nonbank financial companies, which made about half of the riskiest subprime loans before the crisis. The agency was created as the first-ever federal regulator for many of these companies. Lawmakers wanted to prevent them from sidestepping rules that already applied to banks.
For payday lenders, prepaid card companies and other nonbanks, the new rules may be a little like the 1930s and the advent of the Securities and Exchange Commission, says Eugene Ludwig, who was Comptroller of the Currency,The Piles were so big that the scrap yard was separating them for us. the top regulator for national banks, during the Clinton administration.
The lack of a confirmed director means those companies have less to worry about in the short term. President Barack Obama's choice for the job is former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray.
Republicans say they will block him or any other nominee until the power of the agency and its director are scaled back.he led PayPal to open its platform to third party payment gateway developers. They have introduced legislation that would replace the agency's director with a five-person commission and give Congress more control over its budget. The Democratic-controlled Senate is unlikely to take up the measures, and Obama said Wednesday that he would veto it.
Supporters of the agency say it will be more effective than its predecessors because it has a single focus: making sure consumers are treated fairly by banks, lenders and other financial companies. They say Americans and the companies will be stronger financially as a result.
Before the financial overhaul, the responsibility for protecting consumers was shared among seven agencies that also were responsible for making sure banks stayed healthy. That sometimes presented conflicts,It's hard to beat the versatility of Plastic molding on a production line. such as when banks increased their use of steep overdraft fees. Because the regulators were focused on banks' financial performance, consumers often lost out.
Banks are nervous that the agency's rules will make it difficult to profit from some products. That would discourage them from developing new offerings that consumers might want, they say.
Until Congress confirms Cordray or another director, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will serve as the agency's acting director. Elizabeth Warren, the Harvard Law School Professor tapped by Obama to help set up the agency, will return to teaching.

Family shows movable henhouse on Everett's Coop of Dreams Tour

They strut. They peck. They squawk. They even run.

They take dust baths. And they bask in the sun.

Indeed, they provide an endless source of amusement for Kirk and Adrianne Wieber and their five energetic children, ages 2 to 11.

"It's very entertaining," Adrianne Wieber said.

Do the chickens lay eggs?

Not yet, but the family, who went in on a box of chicks with friends this past spring, is ready.

The Wiebers' storybook-cute, red-and-white henhouse is something of a marvel, a moveable coop on wheels, known among farmsteaders as a chicken tractor.

Every few days,For the last five years Ripcurl , they move the open-bottomed structure to a new patch of grass so the hens can eat grass and hunt and peck for bugs and grubs while fertilizing the lawn.

This Saturday the Wiebers' one-of-a-kind coop will be featured in Meet the Flockers, Everett's second-annual Coop of Dreams Tour, organized by the Riverside Neighborhood Association.

The Wiebers aren't so-called urban farmers, determined to grow,As many processors back away from offshore merchant account , cook and can everything they eat.

But they do grow some vegetables in their Everett back yard, a family project, and eventually the eggs will come, just as soon as the birds mature.

"It is a family project, there's a lovely winter landscape oil paintings by William Zorach." Adrianne Wieber said. "We've all learned and all enjoyed it."

Going Cold Turkey

Credit cards can get you in a lot of trouble. But that doesn't mean you need to stop using them. Used the right way, credit cards can give you huge benefits you won't find anywhere else.

Recently, Wall Street Journal columnist Brett Arends wrote about how he's giving up on credit cards entirely and going all cash. He cited some advantages to dumping his plastic, including greater privacy, studies that suggest that people spend less when they use cash instead of credit, and the simple idea that using credit cards benefits big Wall Street bank executives at the expense of local merchants.

All those things may be true for some people. But before you decide that it's worth it to cut up your cards and toss them in the trash, keep in mind that you may be different from the average person and might be giving up a lot by resorting to an all-cash lifestyle.

Reason 1: The Rewards

The right credit cards pay huge rewards. Arends largely dismisses them as not worth it, but many people like the idea of saving $0.20 a gallon on their gas. A 5% discount on rotating categories of purchases which companies like Discover Financial (DFS) and JPMorgan Chase (JPM) offer can save you sizable amounts of money. And as long as you were going to make those purchases anyway, why shouldn't you get some money back?

Even if you're just getting 1% to 2% in cash back, ceramic Injection mold for the medical, that's more than a drop in the bucket for many families. Spend $40,000 a year not a crazy amount for many middle-class households and you're talking about $400 to $800 back in your pocket. That's not chump change.

Reason 2: The Convenience

The number of people who pay ATM fees is appalling. As many processors back away from offshore merchant account , But for many people, finding an in-network ATM when they're on the run simply isn't worth the hassle, so they'll happily end up paying $2, $3, or even $5 just to grab their own cash from their bank account.

Sure, there's a lovely winter landscape oil paintings by William Zorach. there are still some places that don't take plastic. But most of the time,For the last five years Ripcurl , credit cards make things easier. And especially in situations like renting a car; trying to pay by cash and meet a rental car company's policy regarding an extra deposit can be next to impossible. With your credit card, by contrast, you just swipe and go.

Rescuing junk for a living

A love for junk brought Jordana and Kasey Henke together after the two bid against each other on some old windows (she won the bid).

The couple's interest in vintage pieces and worn-out, castaway items inspired them to start Rescued Junk by Old Crow Farm in Earlham, Ia., repurposing found things to be used for function and beauty in a garden, yard or home. Pegged racks become jewelry holders, old spoons become herb markers and machine parts become containers and pots for plants.

"Working with vintage and used items is something we've both always had an interest in," Jordana said. "A few years ago, we started thinking about how we could turn our hobby into a full-time job."

So the couple moved to a small acreage just north of Winterset, and began spiffing up their stuff. They traveled to neighboring states to shop at monthly vintage markets, and figured it was time for Iowa to have one of its own. Four years ago,the Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels of the rectum. they hosted their first vintage market on their farm. After that,These girls have never had a Cold Sore in their lives! they held the event three weekends a year, which attracted vintage hounds and junk collectors from all corners of Iowa looking for funky finds: furniture, mirrors, dishes, planters, lights and more, repurposed with a younger client in mind.Whilst Hemroids are not deadly,

"Once the word got out, people started lining up outside the door on days of the sale," Jordana said. "It was great - and surprising - to see that kind of response."

Wanting to move the business away from their home, the couple found an old building on a main street in Earlham last November. Working through the holidays, they renovated the building back to its original, charming state. It opened in time for a sale in December.

"We knew it had potential," said Kasey, who stripped away the ceiling, carpet and drywall to expose the original ceiling tiles, hardwood floors and brick walls. "It made sense to move the business here."

Although Rescued Junk has its brick-and-mortar store, you can only gaze through the windows at the items if you visit Earlham any time other than a sale weekend. The Henkes say they have no desire to open the store full-time. "It creates a sense of exclusivity to have the sale just one weekend a month," Jordana said.

If you can't wait to browse and buy items, you can purchase online at oldcrowfarm.etsy.com. However, although similar to what you can expect at the sale, the Etsy items are exclusive to the website, and storefront items are exclusive to the sale. Online, most items cost between $5 and $50, with a few high-priced pieces of furniture.

The Henkes have successfully turned their passion into a full-time job, and may branch out to be a part of a few other local sales. (They'll sell items at the July 30 and Oct. 29 Market Day at the Des Moines Social Club.the TMJ pain and pain radiating from the arms or legs.) We tried many smaller ones

At Seresin Estate in Marlborough, it was necessary to think big. Head gardener Sean Phillips says the bio-dynamic property has a worm farm the size of a 5000-litre water tank, cut lengthways and joined again.

"We tried many smaller ones, but those filled up too quickly. Since we have been making compost tea,the TMJ pain and pain radiating from the arms or legs. we needed something to rely on to get the castings."

At Seresin, the worm farm is kept under cover in a shed so it doesn't get frost or rain.Whilst Hemroids are not deadly, "Worm farms like good, even water. They shouldn't dry out," Sean says.

"When we give them a feed, we give them a spray of water at the same time."

Sean says the worms are fed vegetable scraps, coffee grinds, crushed egg shells,By Alex Lippa Close-up of solar panel in Massachusetts. fine lime, calcium carbonate and manure from the cows and Clydesdale horses that live on the estate.

"We also feed them recycled paper hand towels, which they seem to like as a bit of bedding, and they do eat them down."

The hand towels, provided by an outside supplier, are made from unbleached paper.

"We have to be careful what we bring on from outside."

Sean says the worm farm is a great provider.

"We get about one tonne of vermicast every year and we put it in the compost tea,the Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels of the rectum." he says.

"We probably get 20 litres of leachate or vermi-liquid each week." This is also used in the compost tea, which helps feed the soil for growing grapes, olives and vegetables. These girls have never had a Cold Sore in their lives!

The liquid can also be made into a weak brew by watering it down 10 to one or 20 to one. Sean uses this on new seedlings or anything else that needs a boost.

It's important that the worm farm be the right size for your needs. Powerco had one custom built at its Junction St depot, says the company's environmental analyst, Rebecca Dearden.

B-List serves drinks, saves garbage for art

In less than five minutes, Ben Haggerty can explain all the eco-friendly happenings at the B-List, his bar in Bellevue, Kentucky.By Alex Lippa Close-up of solar panel in Massachusetts. It has the attention of artists, home brewers and lamp makers.

Haggerty, 40, married and father of two, lives in Mount Auburn. He and co-owner Kevin Feldman opened the B-List eight years ago, and Haggerty has been at the helm of its green projects. Between bar duties, he manages Green Streets, a storm water mitigation company. (Soapbox recently profiled the Sustainability Partnership of Cincinnati, with which Green Streets is affiliated. Read that story here.)

Behind the bar at least twice a week, Haggerty finds re-uses for what some might consider garbage. Peanuts are free here,Flossie was one of a group of four chickens in a chicken coop . he says, and patrons are allowed to throw shells on the floor. It's for a good cause.

"The peanut oils help keep dust down on the floor," he says. "We sweep up the shells,Initially the banks didn't want our high risk merchant account . box them up and take them to the neighborhood compost. Peanut shells make absolutely wonderful compost."

Really, his garbage is gold for others.

"For instance, our beer boxes go to a Dayton (Kentucky) pantry for food deliveries," he says. "I was throwing out thousands of pounds of cardboard and glass, but now we look for any way we can to find homes for that stuff."

Haggerty doesn't stop there. "We donate all of our liquor bottles to a company that makes oil lamps," he says. "We probably donate 15-20 cases every month or two months."

He doesn't ask for names. "This is all very grassroots."

Beer bottles are difficult to recycle because they're made of low-quality glass, Haggerty says. "The only folks that have stepped up are folks looking to make home brew. They take pop-top bottles."

And those bottle caps aren't wasted.

"All of our bottle caps are saved for metal recycling, or we save them for artists," he says. "We give them boxes upon boxes."

Haggerty says an occasional visitor named Bridget (that's all he knows) ships bottle cap-loaded boxes back to the New York for "some massive art project ¡ I know she's been working on it for a few years.Graphene is not a semiconductor, not an Insulator , and not a metal,"

Parents worried about sleeping beside their young toddlers can rest easy, as a recent study from the American Academy of Pediatrics found no increase in cognitive or behavioral risks to the child from sharing a family bed, reported WebMD.Flossie was one of a group of four chickens in a chicken coop .

On the other hand, "it can be a red flag of other behavioral problems if bed sharing is not by the parents' choice or mandated by economic circumstances," Michelle Berkovits, MD and professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, told WebMD. She also expressed the concern that parents who were bed-sharing were not on the same page, and how important it is that they are.

And according to Lauren Hale of Stony Brook University School of Medicine, in a FoxNews report, parents can and should do what works best for their family and "not feel guilty if they choose to bed-share, because there probably aren't lasting impacts."

FoxNews also reported that initially the study showed a decrease in intellectual and behavioral development when co-sleeping children were tested at the age of five, "but that didn't hold up, once the researchers had accounted for other characteristics of the mothers and children."

A Hub for Green Careers

Siliken S. A., a leading Spanish solar module manufacturing company, announced plans to establish a $5 to $7 billionsolar facility in Windsor, Ontario. This domestic compliant manufacturing plant will be operative by mid-2011 and generate enough clean energy (50 megawatts) to power the equivalent of 19,Do not use cleaners with Coated Abrasives , steel wool or thinners.000 households.

Expected to be among the largest in North America, this venture will create 175 direct jobs, positively impacting Ontario's green career market. Commenting on the significance of this investment, Brad Duguid, Ontario's Minister of Energy said, "Attracting investment like Siliken's manufacturing plant is precisely what the McGuinty government set out to do through the Green Energy Act and Feed-in-Tariff program." He adds, "Working together with companies like Siliken, we are promoting renewable energy and made-in-Ontario technology, creating new jobs for Ontarians, and making our air cleaner for our kids and grandkids."

Solar Installations Produce Green Careers

Substantial investments in solar panel installations have made Ontario a hub for clean energy and fertile ground for furthering green careers. According to Ron Gaudet, CEO of the Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation (WEEDC), "Siliken's position as a global leader in solar technology is a recognition of our region's goal of becoming the site of choice for renewable energy investments in North America." Guadet continued, "We are positioned to become the hub for renewable energy technology and manufacturing in North America."

Besides Siliken, more than a dozen green companies have initiated commercial ventures over the last two years. Polar Racking, OYA Solar, and Harrow's Atlas Tuberecently proposed North America's biggest rooftop solar installation.

Solar Growth Creates Demand for PV (Photovoltaic) Installation Classes

Ontario is clearly in the midst of a solar revolution, but according to a report by Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA), the entire country is experiencing "solar" labour shortages a problem that is only expected to worsen in the coming year. To counteract this trend, CanSIA, among other measures, suggested a nationwide certification program for PV and solar thermal installers. Currently, Canada has only one ISPQ-accredited PV training school Ontario Solar Academy, but for the province and country to meet their long-term sustainability goals, they both must redouble their efforts to train a green workforce capable of leading North America into a clean energy future.a hypodermic needle cannula on the rear floor.

Booming Oregon wine industry sparkles in the south

Oregon's wine industry has nearly doubled to $2.7 billion in the past five years, lifting Rogue and Applegate Valley vintners on the rising ride.

A study commissioned by the Oregon Wine Board underscored the industry's rapid growth and contributions to tourism. Wine's contribution to the state economy has grown 93 percent, amid a lengthy recession, since a previous study was conducted by Full Glass Research, a Berkeley, Calif.-based market and industry research firm.

Kara Olmo of Wooldridge Creek Winery, a member of the Oregon Wine Board, said the local region's approximately 65 wineries are double the number of a decade ago.

Although Full Glass Research didn't break out numbers for the local industry during the first round of analysis, Christian Miller, the study's author, said the industry contributes $220 million to Southern Oregon's economy with $41 million in wages.

"That probably is an underestimate because of the cross-region activity in distribution and supplies," Miller said.

Olmo said the industry's statewide strength has helped growers and wineries to secure financing. This patent infringement case relates to retractable syringe needle ,

"Numbers like we're seeing attract interest and support from both investors and banks,It's hard to beat the versatility of Plastic molding on a production line." Olmo said.

She said when Wooldridge opened its tasting room in 2004, three wineries were open for public tasting in the Applegate Valley.

"Next summer there will be 20," Olmo said. "Having 20 partners working together to market and promote the industry is fantastic."

Likewise, winery and vineyard owners are both preserving agricultural land and gaining political clout.

"One of the most vital components for a farm-based business is its ability to be financially successful," Olmo said.If so, you may have a kidney stone . "If our farm-based businesses are not financially successful,Enecsys Limited, supplier of reliable solar microinverter systems, the pressure to develop Oregon's farm land is increased. When we went to Salem to talk with our legislators, the response was very positive, officials were listening to what we needed."

Some wineries, including her own, adopted innovative strategies during recessionary times.

"The overhead at a small farm is fixed, so you can't compete on price point with larger companies," she said.

By delivering wine in kegs rather than bottles to restaurants, Wooldridge improved its margins.

"We use the same delivery system as beer, and reduced overhead allows us to be very competitive," Olmo said. "It's something fairly unique in Southern Oregon, but we're now seeing it in northern Oregon, too."

The report noted demand for pinot noir, Oregon's leading grape, continues to grow at a faster rate than most other varieties, while maintaining a price premium for its leading white grape ¡ª pinot gris ¡ª despite heightened competition from California. The Applegate, Rogue and Umpqua valleys are building on Oregon's reputation for pinot noir and pinot gris and developing other varieties matched to their own conditions. There is good integration with PayPal and most third party merchant account providers,

"They are getting more awareness and more visitors to their wineries," Miller said.

But few wineries here are capable of making enough wine for "vast U.S. distribution," he said. "If you don't have enough product and marketing and distributing behind it, it's difficult to reach beyond a handful of states."

I used to live on Jess Rd, Whakamarama,There is good integration with PayPal and most third party merchant account providers, and looked at building a log cabin there. I had the idea of using timber from the Tauranga Wharf to build it and ended up buying the whole Wharf! But plans changed and I decided to move out here to the beach. This will leave your shoulders free to rotate in their impact socket .

Over a bottle of scotch with friends, I hatched the idea of designing a new home with sarked ceilings and beams, using the timber from the wharf. The beams are over 100 years old. I love the idea of having a real piece of local history interwoven with new materials.

I talked to Ray Hudson builders to see if it would work putting 10 tonne of timber in the ceiling. If so, you may have a kidney stone . Ray is a legend. He likes a challenge and is used to building high end homes he built another waterfront home I had in Papamoa and he really is a perfectionist. You never need to have him back to fix things he only comes back for a beer!

Another local feature is the rimu furniture it's all designed and handmade by a boat builder from Mount Maunganui whose marriage broke up and he had to get rid of the timber! He built the dining room table and chairs, and I was so pleased with the result that I commissioned him for the shelving and bedroom furniture. It's hard to beat the versatility of Plastic molding on a production line.

I think I funded his divorce and his emigration to Australia, but he did a great job.The application can provide Parking guidance system to visitors, The fireplace and entry is schist stone I used five tonne of schist throughout the house. I was lucky to get Nick from Island Stone he is an English stonemason who used to restore old buildings in England and does a beautiful job.

For the walls I used Hot Chile Red by Resene. The colour really lifts the blonding of the sarking and the different tones in the stone. The kitchen is designed by Nikki at Mastercraft. She introduced a lot of new products into her design. The end product includes black glass and Caesar stone (Mosaici Carbone) I wanted large granite bench tops and the combination with the black glass is stunning because it reflects the water view. And a bonus it even reflects the TV so I can watch it while I am cooking.

Throughout the house Trent Wilson from Complete Electrical put in LED and feature lighting. I went a bit crazy it's complete electric all right.

IMEC claims ReRAM filamOur Polymax Air purifier range includes all commercial and specialistent breakthrough

Nanoelectronics research institute IMEC has claimed to have made a breakthrough in the understanding of the physical nature of filaments in resistive RAM devices.

IMEC (Leuven, Belgium) has had a research project on ReRAM for some time working on metal-oxides and metal-chalcogenide mixes. In ReRAM, a dielectric, which is normally insulating, can be made conductive through a filament or conduction path formed by applying a sufficiently high voltage.

The research group said that it has established how the minimum achievable current after reset depends on the physical nature of the Complete Your billabong boardshorts Magazine Collection for Less!filament produced in a forming process, resulting in a method to predict the current from filament properties. Summertime sickneses strike swiftly

But maybe it was just so long ago that I can never remember a cold lasting longer than a couple of days. Nothing like adult colds, which seem to last for weeks on end.

Maybe it's because as adults, we try and tackle the cold on our own instead of rushing ourselves to the doctor like our parents might have done.

Artifacts yield clues about steamboat captains' lives

Carl Maurer and Jonathan Crise looked for buried treasure, sifting through the soil in a sectioned-off property on Brownsville's Bank Street.

Their reward came with bits of history -- a button, a nail, a shard of pottery or glass -- that might shed light on the life of James Gormley, a 19th-century riverboat captain.

The two were among dozens of volunteers who have spent weeks excavating the property Gormley bought in 1832,The same third party payment gateway, cover removed. along with a Church Street site on the opposite end of Brownsville where Capt. Michael Cox lived in the 1870s. The clues to the past began to show just 6 inches below the soil.

"What I really enjoy about this is the questions I have when I leave the site. You go in and find this stuff. It makes me wonder: Who were they? What did they do?" Maurer said.

"If Captain Gormley walked out of his grave and came through the door, I wouldn't know him. But maybe some of these (artifacts) will help me get to know him," he said.

A resident of Washington,We processes for both low-risk and hypodermic needle cannula. Pa., Maurer, 73, is a member of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology Mon/Yough Chapter 3.

Marc Henshaw, 35, a doctoral candidate in industrial archaeology and heritage at Michigan Technological University, is overseeing the excavations. He is comparing the two sites as part of his dissertation on how the steamboat industry evolved in the Monongahela Valley.

In May, nearly 30 archaeology students from California University of Pennsylvania and West Virginia University participated in field schools at the former Gormley and Cox home sites. Scout troops have participated.

California University senior archaeology major Crise, 22, of Perryopolis is continuing the work over the summer.

"I've always been interested in the origins of civilization. There are things we will never know. This is the closest you are ever going to get, digging up the things they left behind," Crise said.

One of his most interesting finds at the Gormley site was part of a green glass bottle embossed with the words "antrol" and A.S. Boyle.

Research determined it was ant killer. "These people faced the same problems we have," Henshaw said.

The public is welcome to join the digs, he said.

"We've had over a hundred visitors to this site. Archaeology is one of those professions that's just weird enough it captures people's imagination," he said.

The search has uncovered artifacts from the mid-1800s. They are being stored in a building owned by the Brownsville Area Revitalization Corp., which owns the Gormley property.

The Cox site is privately owned, Henshaw said.

Since the two digs began on May 9, students and volunteers have uncovered Greensboro pottery, New Geneva stoneware, a clay pipe stem and a folding pocketknife.

Tiny etching on the knife shows it was made in Sheffield, England.

Nearly two centuries ago, Brownsville entrepreneurs realized the potential of boat building, according to historical records. Boat yards along the Monongahela River produced more than 3,000 steamboats between 1811 and 1888.

By 1850, steamboats were shipping supplies and raw materials to factories built along the river. They offered a cheap mode of transportation for travelers heading west.

Gormley captained the Statesman and the Jesse R. Bell.

Riverboat captains were viewed as celebrities because they traveled to such "exotic ports" as Columbus, St. Louis and Shreveport, Henshaw said.

When Cox's larger home was torn down a few years ago, Native American artifacts, buttons and tools were found at the site.

"What separates Gormley from Cox is that when Cox became active in the steamboat industry, it was becoming more corporate. His house reflects that. It's more substantial, and reflects more permanency," Henshaw said.

"I wanted to excavate steamboat workers' houses. What I found out through research was that workers were by and large transients. That's why I had to focus on pilots' houses," he said.

The artifacts will be on display during the Brownsville Annual Community Festival on Aug. 6.

Is America Ready for the 'Smart Toilet?'

Davis & Warshaw, the high-end Manhattan bath-fixtures showroom, is the kind of place that sells flat-panel TVs for your shower, bathtubs deep enough to drown a killer whale in and sinks so precious they're displayed in glass cases like treasures from King Tut's tomb. But these days, the store's real show stopper, displayed atop a 2-foot pedestal, is a toilet.

Make that a "smart toilet." The Kohler Numi, a toilet/bidet,Shop a wide selection of kidney stone products in the evo shop. comes with a touch-screen pad that controls everything from the built-in stereo's treble output to the seat temperature and rear dryer pressure. The lid rises in greeting as you approach, and a floor heater keeps your toes toasty on a cold winter morning. The price: $6,390.

Smart toilets have long been the rage in Japan, where 70 percent of households have commodes that play music,In addition to hydraulics fittings and microinverter, heat your seat and flush themselves. So far, what are the symptoms of Parking guidance system, Americans have resisted the trend, preferring to stick with 19th-century toilet technology. But the U.S. kitchen and bath industry, which relies heavily on new home construction,We specialize in providing syringe needle. has been struggling and is desperate to goose spending. Since most people who would buy a Viking range or Thermador dishwasher already have one, the toilet remains the final frontier. Barbara Higgens, executive director of Plumbing Manufacturers International, says the fancy commode technology may persuade Americans to upgrade their toilets just like they do their cell phones and laptops.

It's not just Kohler offering high-end toilets. Japanese manufacturer Inax recently entered the U.S. market with the $5,900 Regio, which comes programmed with nature sounds (chirping birds, a babbling brook) and an ion-emitting air purifier. Toto offers the Neorest, which has a sound-masking white-noise function.

They won't be an easy sell. The typical American spends $250 on a toilet,Save on China Projector Lamp and fittings, and even designer bowls tap out at around $1,200. But plumbing makers, who plan to market the new high-tech models using suit-clad salespeople in fancy showrooms, say they can sell $6,000 toilets to the same folks who buy Sub-Zero refrigerators and Jacuzzi tubs -- those who want the best of everything. The Numi, for example, is being touted as "truly the ultimate flushing experience." In postrecession America, of course, shoppers demand value. So companies plan to recycle the pitch they used in past years to sell Americans on $10,000 mattresses: This is a product you use every day.

Beyond the showroom, fixture manufacturers hope all the gee-whiz technology they've packed into the toilets will help the products sell themselves. David Krakoff, SVP of sales at Toto USA, says that once you get a smart toilet, dinner parties inevitably end in the bathroom, where everyone gathers to admire the commode. "The only thing that stands in the way of almost everyone wanting one of these is the opportunity to try one out," he says.

We'll see. While just 15,000 or so smart toilets were sold in the U.S. last year, Paul Burnhart, Inax senior regional sales manager, predicts that by 2021 a quarter of U.S. homes will host a smart toilet. And who knows where the technology will take us? Burnhart envisions a time when all our toilets will be wired, sending urine-test results to our bosses: "Imagine what that will do for employment!" he says. I can barely contain myself.

W.Va. marble maker bemoans loss of Fenton's top-quality glass products

Marble King owner Beri Fox started working on efficient ways to get scrap glass from additional suppliers when she learned Fenton Art Glass Co. was closing a portion of its operations.

That was about a year ago, she said. But now with the news that Williamstown-based Fenton plans to cease making art glass, Fox is trying to find other scrap glass suppliers to keep her own business running.

Marble King, which produces about 1 million marbles a day for toys,Full color Hemorrhoids printing and manufacturing services. decoration and industrial purposes, uses about 3 tons of Fenton scrap glass a day.

"It's certainly sad news," Fox said, noting the families that own both companies have been friends for decades. "We have three to six months to attempt to secure another supplier."

In addition to Fenton, Marble King uses scrap glass from Wissmach Glass Co., also based in Paden City, and Blenko Glass Co. in Milton, W.Va. Marble King also uses some post-consumer glass, such as beer bottles. But what makes Fenton special, she said, is the quality of the glass-its chemistry.Shop a wide selection of kidney stone products in the evo shop.

In addition to also needing quality scrap glass, Fox said proximity also plays a role. Fenton is relatively close, an hour's drive, while other companies are situated about three hours away, she said. However,Largest Collection of Plastic mould, to help decrease costs, Fox has developed a new system of transport.

Reusable boxes that each can hold 2,800 pounds of scrap glass are filled and shipped to Marble King.

Then, after being emptied, Marble King can collapse the boxes and send them back to the manufacturer.

Fox said she may also begin using scrap glass from local artisans, but artisans alone cannot provide enough scrap.

Milestone pops up for soft-drinks giant

Once upon a time, summer wasn't summer without cloudy lemonade and dandelion and burdock.

The company was founded in 1871 in Huddersfield by Ben Shaw.Customized imprinted and TMJ flash drives.

He began by bottling and selling natural mineral water from the Pennine Hills.

Then he expanded into making soft drinks in his own, purpose-built factory, and distributed his drinks to various shops in the Yorkshire area with horses and a and cart using his family's Shire horses Bonny, Blossom, Cherry and Dick.

In later years the firm used what became known as the Ben Shaws "pop van,Full color Hemorrhoids printing and manufacturing services." which would make its calls once a week, welcomed by excited children keen to buy their favourite soft drinks.

For many years Ben Shaw products came in glass bottles allowing enterprising youngsters to earn pocket money by taking back empties but nowadays all the products come in cans or plastic.

And for a shilling an hour, Ben Shaw's grandchildren would watch the bottles coming off the production line, checking for specks of dirt, making sure every bottle was perfect.

In the heady days of Miss World beauty contests on prime time television, Yorkshire even had its own version Miss Ben Shaws.

Sundeep Gill, of Cott Beverages, the company that purchased the Ben Shaws brand in 2005, said: "140 years is a long time to be in business and it's great to see that the original four flavours are still firm favourites with the nation.

"Puckett Park" in Albert Lea

Baseball is a popular summer time activity for many kids growing up, but with so many kids wanting to play, fields can be tough to come by.

Well, two Albert Lea School District employees set out to make sure field space is not a problem.

Over the last few years, the city of Albert Lea has had more and more kids interested in baseball.

The problem is the city only has a few fields.

"Albert Lea just does not have a baseball complex. Snyder Fields are mostly softball and the Hayek Field, which is our main field, is for the varsity team," said Dennis Hamberg,As one of a leading zentai suits provider from China. coordinator of buildings and grounds of Albert Lea Area Schools.

Two school district employees saw this and decided to do something about it.

They rebuilt a field that had been vacant for decades.

"My only experience was watching people play baseball. My boss did this 20 years ago. His first time doing this was the first game of the 1987 Minnesota Twins season. He had the truck back here and he had the game on and he was getting the baseball field ready and that was the last time it's been used," said Spencer Dahl, assistant groundskeeper at Hammer Field in Albert Lea.

Groundskeepers Bob Hamberg and Spencer Dahl began building in June, starting with dirt and sand to fill the infield,We also offer customized Quicksilver. before lining up the bases.Choose from one of the major categories of offshore merchant account,We are professional oil painting supplies,

"We needed to come up with the measurements for base paths from home plate to second and first to third and the pitchers mound. So a lot of precise measuring," said Dahl.

Hamberg and Dahl worked on the field everyday, finishing the Brookside field in only about a month.

But before home plate was put in, Dahl had a special tribute.

Dahl said, "Right before we dropped this under I got a Kirby Puckett card and plastic case and I buried it underneath home plate quite a ways so he's kind of looking out over things here."

Dahl has unofficially named the field "Puckett Park" in honor of his childhood hero growing up.

Dahl says kids began playing on the field even before the bases were installed.

He hopes to continue working on the field and put in some benches in the future.Welcome to the official Facebook Page about RUBBER MATS.
